Re: A New Counter Strike Game in the works
Is valve really this low on ideas to just repackage a game that doesn't really need anything?
Because, since you don't know me, there is a great possibility that I'm on an higher intellectuel level then you are on.

Valve tends to get their ideas from buying up mod teams. They are kind of like a publishing company when you think about it, they just don't buy game studios normally with Turtle Rock being the exception because they wanted L4D.Doctor Hannibal Lecter wrote:Is valve really this low on ideas to just repackage a game that doesn't really need anything?

I thought valve already owned the rights to CS since it became a mod you had to pay for.SixtyWattMan wrote: Valve tends to get their ideas from buying up mod teams. Re: A New Counter Strike Game in the works
Valve decided they didn't like CS:S any more, so they handed it off to Hidden Path Entertainment to maintain. Ever since May of last year, all updates to CS:S have been done by HPE, and they are going to continue to update it even after CS:GO has been released.

Re: A New Counter Strike Game in the works
I know this is an early test, and it looks really good for that, but there are some thing that I really don't like.
It looks like they fucked up how to weapons look
The animations look awkward
The grenade looks way too small
I like the classic 4 lines cross hairs better
That being said, here are some things that look promising
Molotov cocktail will be great to flush out a small room, like B tunnels on dust2
I like the new sleek graphics
5v5 ranked matchmaking
bots if there isn't enough people in the game
So far I really like how it looks, and I can't wait to try and get into the beta testing.

Re: A New Counter Strike Game in the works
I think the weapons are supposed to look like CS 1.6, though the tracers and blood textures are all generic source placeholders for now. I like how the guy in the tunnel flies up in the air after being shot at 2:33, that's right out of 1.6 for sure
And the grenade actually looks like a grenade now

Re: A New Counter Strike Game in the works
My guess is they are finishing gameplay first, then making models animations and other things to a higher standard. No point in spending a week optimizing a weapon that gets removed.

Looks like they made the models look slightly better, still could use some work though.
