Well i went on another server, but i wont advertise the IP.
Anyway this girl asked me about this IP to the mc server, so i gave it to her. Her name is cjrolley or something like that.
I'll keep handing out the IP if you want, because it gave me this idea

So, admins, yes or no? Should i keep handing it out?

At the same time, let's not be hypocrites and encourage our players to advertise our servers on another server where they don't welcome advertising. Make sure you respect the situation and if it's appropriate or not.

I try to share it with my friends, but try not to get into the habit of publicly advertising it on every server you join. It starts to look bad.
Another problem with sharing it publicly is that we'll get even more of those kids who join and annoy everyone until they leave forever after constructing a giant ugly house with nothing inside near spawn.
I wouldn't go around saying that the admins told you to advertise on other servers.
But yeah I'd just say to just share it with people you specifically meet and think are friendly, and bring it up slowly, not just like
"Anyone wanna build a base together?"
"I will!"
"You seem friendly, check out this awesome server I play, the IP is mc.joe.to, see you there!"

(And yeah, I know I'm not an admin)

The servers i advertised it on weren't against advertisement

That's not the problem, eventually, if you advertise it enough, when an admin sees "J2" on another server, they might just kick you thinking you're advertising when you're just telling someone what server you're from or something...
Also, I don't know about you, but I never join servers that people advertise, because servers who encourage advertisement tend to have pretty shitty admins.

If you use the new launcher, you can choose which version you want.
