also, a map idea to borrow from hyperion (or maybe top notch): they have the command "lastmaps" that shows the 5 most recent maps that have been played. might be useful to get some more map diversity

What about abandoned upward? It looks glorious, though admittedly it might have the problem with download size. (I dunno about those things)

I went through all the maps (except for the silly category) and made a list of maps that we should remove because they suck and/or don't work
VIEW CONTENT:
cp
castle4 - huge open spaces. evidently very old. no fun to play on. gets played very rarely and is generally poorly recieved when that happens
fallout - might be broken, need to playtest
forest_shrine_a15 - didn't even know we had this. don't think I've ever even seen it nominated. didn't seem very fun to play, though it could use a playtest.
gullywash_final1 - again, I don't think I've ever seen this nominated. isn't really fun for casual play and quickly gets crowded with 10+ players per team.
junction - this map is overcrowded, compact, and stupidly full of chokes. It's not fun to play on and always turns into a giant spam fest to try and kill the 5 level 3 sentries on last. Not fun to play on and just generally a horrible experience.
skull_island - super open, balanced very heavily in favor of red. also very annoying to fall in the water
waste - awkwardly far from second to mid, need to playtest
ctf
atrophy - might be broken?
system - probably way too big - should playtest it to confirm
greystone - have we ever played this? looks like a crappier version of ctf castle
koth
ashville - basically a beta of coalplant, no need to still have it
sherman - play test : looks super awesome and fun to screw around on, I think it will not work out game play wise ... I want to believe
pl
hoodoo - got more choke points than dustbowl, ffs. It's a horrible map and I don't see why we need another shit-tier pl map when we alreayd have goldrush.
lasti - shitty map. very chokey, some very poorly designed map things that just look like crap. we played it once and it sucked
shenmue - weirdly short. looks like it might have some nasty chokes - need sober playtesting to figure out though.
we also have a fuck ton of really outdated maps that are missing the updated versions. that will be the next list

broski, junction, hoodoo, and gullywash are stock maps.
also add gas_kaboom_beta3 and koth_nippletwiser_hf to the list, they apparently make the server crash now.

dmitri, I'm busy for the next few days but outside of that you are welcome to ask me any time (via forum PM or preferably IRC) for information about maps in use and other such things. I can just provide you with quickly generated automated information dumps to save time.
