The majors are the biggest events of the year, CSGO doesn't have an 'International' but rather several major tournaments through the year hosted by different organizations and supported by Valve. The one happening right now is hosted by MLG and is taking place in Columbus, Ohio which is nice because the Majors are usually in Europe. Definitely seeingsome home field advantage for the NA teams this time around.
Virtus.Pro (Poland) is playing Luminosity Gaming (Brazil) right now and it's a solid match next up is NaVi vs. Astralis (former TSM players gone solo) and it should be a good one, the most exciting games left though would probably be the winner of VP/LG taking on Liquid as the third and final match today, as well as the final tomorrow. I'm rooting for Liquid to take it all, you can click on a bunch of the clips I posted above to see why, they've been absolutely insane this time around which no one expected.
Apart from the Majors there's plenty of league matches that happen throughout the year, if you find a team you like it can be fun to see them play in the lower leagues and can be a bit exciting if you choose to put a small bet on CSGOlounge, even a 20 cent skin bet can up the excitement a bit though chances are you'll lose it, heh.
There's usually two ESL One tourneys a year (Katowice, Poland & Cologne, Germany) as well as a Dreamhack tourney in the Winter. Those are going to be the big ones to watch, though obviously the MLG one right now is another one to watch, $1m prize pool and all.
Message me on steam if you want any background on the more well known teams, there's lots of fresh faces on these teams but some of these guys have been playing since the early 1.6 days.
